Combination skin is confusing—your T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) shines like a light, but cheeks feel tight or flaky. One product rarely solves both areas perfectly, so you have to be a bit strategic.
Start with a gentle, non-stripping cleanser. Over-drying face washes can make cheeks worse and push the T-zone to produce even more oil. Foaming gels made for combination skin usually work well.
Think of moisturiser as “targeted”. You can use a lightweight gel or lotion all over, then add a little richer cream only on the dry cheek areas if needed. You don’t have to treat the whole face identically.
For sunscreen, pick a non-greasy or gel-based formula. If T-zone gets shiny through the day, you can blot with tissue or use a bit of compact/setting powder only in that area.
Actives like niacinamide can be nice for combination skin—they help balance oil and support the barrier. Introduce slowly, one new product at a time.
Avoid very heavy oils or thick occlusive creams on the T-zone; they can clog and cause breakouts. At the same time, don’t be so scared of moisturiser that your cheeks stay perpetually thirsty.
It’s okay if your routine has small variations for different zones—that’s just listening to your skin.
